What is an Electrical Transformer?

An electrical transformer transfers electricity from one circuit to another using conductors. Transformers are often used to increase voltage in the electricity so it can be sent over long distances through power wires. That is how electricity is able to travel all the way from the power company to your home; transformers do exactly what their name implies. They transform energy. Electrical Transformers are found in everything from karaoke microphones to telephones. By the time your electricity enters the breaker box and is distributed through the home, it has passed through a series of transformers and will go through several more as it powers appliances and gadgets. Electrical transformers are an important part of the system which powers everything using electric current.
